March has always felt like the real New Year to me! January is basically recovering from the holidays, February is a test run, but March? March is where the magic happens. It’s the month of new beginnings, fresh starts, and shaking off whatever has been weighing you down. (Also the month we order a dumpster to get rid of all the crap we’ve somehow accumulated lol)

Three years ago, I made one of the biggest changes of my life—I quit drinking. March symbolized a reset, a chance to clear out what wasn’t serving me and step into something better. Over the last six months, I let some of my progress slide. A few drinks here and there—holidays, weekends, casual moments. Sometimes I kick myself, but in the end, I’m grateful for the backwards slide because it showed me EXACTLY what I wasn’t missing. Every. Single. Time.

So here I am, recommitting to the version of myself I know I want to be. And if you’re feeling like it’s time to press the reset button on your own life, you’re in the right place.

In honor of fresh starts, new beginnings and us deciding to GET OUR SH*T TOGETHER, I’ll be hosting a month long GYST 2025 Challenge inside my Mom Masterminds Discord, covering ALL of this—mindset, home, digital life, health, habits, and more. If you need a structured, step-by-step reset, you’re going to want in on this. You can join the Discord or sign up for email updates so you don’t miss the details!

But first, let’s talk about spring cleaning your life—because if you’re feeling scattered, exhausted, or just off, it’s probably time to declutter more than just your closet.

How to GYST (Get Your Sh*t Together) When You Have No Idea Where to Start

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you’re stuck in the cycle of knowing you need to change things but not knowing where to start? Been there, done that. Many many times.

My advice to you is don’t try to fix everything at once. Small, intentional actions will take you further than an all-or-nothing mindset.

Here’s where to start:

1. Mindset Reset

Your brain is the control center for everything else in your life. If you’re mentally cluttered, nothing else will fall into place.

  • Brain Dump Everything – Literally get ALL the things out of your head and onto paper. Write down every single thing weighing on your mind. Tasks, worries, things you’ve been procrastinating. Once you get it out of your head, you can start sorting through it.
  • Challenge Your Narrative – What’s the story you’re telling yourself about why you can’t change? Rewrite it.
  • Create a Simple Morning Routine – Just 5-10 minutes of intentional time (stretching, journaling, deep breathing) can shift your whole day. The first hour of the day is THE most important and can set the tone for the entire day (just ask my boys. They get really tired of hearing that LOL)

2. Spring Clean Your Home (Without Overwhelm)

If you try to tackle everything at once, you’ll be throwing in the towel before you even begin. I’ve tried this with our garage – it is my actual nemesis and I get overwhelmed every time I walk out there.

It’s all about taking baby steps and starting small. A drawer. A cabinet. You get the idea 🙂

  • Pick ONE Area – Just tackle a nightstand, a junk drawer, or your fridge. Small wins build momentum.
  • The 15-Minute Rule – Set a timer and clean for just 15 minutes. It’s amazing how much you’ll get done when you’re racing the clock.
  • Ditch the Guilt Clutter – Clothes you don’t wear, books you’ll never read, gifts you don’t like—let them go. If I haven’t thought about it, worn it, or used it in 6 months, it’s getting tossed (except for my books because they are sacred).

3. Digital Decluttering

Your phone and inbox can be just as cluttered as your home. Let’s fix that.

  • Inbox Zero-ish – Unsubscribe from junk. Set up folders. Archive what you don’t need.
  • Clean Up Your Social Media – Unfollow accounts that drain your energy. The content you take in is just as important as WHO you surround yourself with. It’s so important to curate your feed so it actually inspires you.
  • Declutter Your Desktop & Apps – Take 10 minutes to delete, organize, and clear space.

4. Health & Habits Check-In

If your energy is low, it might be time to look at what you’re consuming – both physically and mentally.

  • Water & Movement First – If you do nothing else, drink more water and move your body. No fancy plan needed—just start where you are.
  • Simplify Your Meals – If meal planning overwhelms you, pick 2-3 easy, healthy meals and rotate them. No need to be a gourmet chef.
  • Set a “No Mindless Scrolling” Rule – If you find yourself doom-scrolling, set a 10-minute timer when you open an app. Stay aware of how much time you’re actually spending on your phone.

5. Reassess Your Priorities

If you’re feeling stretched too thin, it’s time to audit where your energy is going.

  • What Actually Matters? – Make a list of the top 3 things that matter most in your life right now. Are your daily actions aligning with those?
  • Learn to Say No – Stop filling your calendar with things that drain you. Boundaries girl. Boundaries.
  • Schedule “You Time” – If it’s not on the calendar, it’s not happening. Block off time for you just like you would any other appointment.

And Now to Follow Through

Here’s the truth: You don’t need a perfect plan. You just need to start.

It doesn’t matter if you’re restarting a habit (like me with quitting drinking), decluttering your home, or finally taking control of your schedule.

Progress > perfection.
